GROUP TALK

The Barnabas group on Monday nights continues with 5-10 men. We have studied various books dealing with sexual addictions and background on homosexuality.

The support group for male college students in College Station began Saturday, November 6, 2004 and has continued since then. Many of our guys were involved in summer missions, even in other countries. More churches in College Station are becoming aware of us.

Adrienne began the Esther group for women earlier this year. She enlisted Ginny and Kay as mentors/leaders, as well as some other godly women. The women participants have been quite enthusiastic in linking with women who have not struggled with sexual identity issues.

Lucy and Edrice replace Ginny and Kay as the new coordinators for the monthly UPLIFT parents and friends meeting. Both Lucy and Edrice, mothers formerly involved in this group, felt called to serve as coordinators in this new season.

Tom and Martha Hardin continue to serve faithfully as coordinators for the monthly Sunday Awakening parents and friends support group in San Antonio. Gloria Zwinggi still is available on a limited basis to answer some phone calls, as well.

CONFERENCES

In early September I was the presenter for “Someone I love is Gay” at the Destiny International Women’s conference in San Antonio. None of the 15 Afro-American women in my audience from throughout the US had even heard there was help for parents! They were very grateful for the information I gave them. I directed them to Exodus agencies in their home cities, well as doing some personal ministry.

The next week end I spoke at the Greater St. Matthew’s Baptist church in Hitchcock, Texas. This Afro-American church has an entire day dedicated to sex education for their youth. It was a great experience, and I was even the featured speaker!

From October 31-November 2 I ministered at a small church of 150 in the town of Putla, Mexico (5 hours by car away from Oaxaca) at a conference on Godly perspective on Sexuality. At the conference open to the entire city, I shared my testimony and taught "Understanding Homosexuality: Roots and Healing from Gender confusion", "Sexual Abstinence: God’s Plan for Singles", and "Friendship or Marriage". In the last two workshops, most of my audience was adolescent! I was blessed to be invited as the only non-Hispanic speaker at the conference. The other speakers were friends from Mexico City and Costa Rica! Pastor Daniel Romero Hernandez chose these dates to redeem them from the occult influence. The Day of the Dead on November 1 and 2 is a huge holiday in Mexico, particularly in Oaxaca. This was the first time for conference of this type in his area. In addition to my talks, I enjoyed formal and informal ministry to conference participants

This last year the Defense of Marriage Act was passed in Texas and we had more than 900 attending the Love Won Out conference in Houston. The homosexual issue continues as a hot issue in all the media. We have more challenges than ever!

Please keep us in your prayers; introduce us to your church and persons needing our resources. We are so blessed by your interest and concerns.

Churches need CCR’s resources for training/mentoring. More and more high school and college students are coming to us for help. Our donations were down during the summer and after Hurricane Katrina and Rita. Our needs are very modest.

Please consider a generous year-end gift to CCR, and/or joining us as a CCR financial partner for 2006. We are committed to reaching as many as possible.

Thank you so much for your financial support, prayers, and words of encouragement.

  • Thank you for the excellent report, it was a blessing. It is wonderful to know that you are standing in the gap fighting the good fight, PRAISE THE LORD FOR THAT!!!!!!!!
  • The support of Mr. Newman and the camaraderie of the fellow students in our "Aggie group" have given me the knowledge and accountability to overcome my struggles and battles. Though I am not completely free, I am able to see God at work in my life to help me win this fight - and that is COOL!!!
  • I read with fervent praise in my heart your latest newsletter telling of the strong response to the conferences you presented.

Thank you Pastor Newman. I'll be praying fervently that my friend will contact you, and that God will accomplish another astonishing miracle in another young man's life for whom he died to set free I really enjoyed Love Won Out; it has helped me out a lot It is a true blessing having someone in my life that I can trust to be there for me and helping me overcome these struggles and temptations - IT TRULY MEANS A LOT!!!
